Summer, Soundtracks & Small Batch Whisky: A Little Red Berry July

There’s a certain energy in the air at Little Red Berry this month—and it’s not just the sunshine. July has rolled in with all its warmth, and with it, that familiar mid-summer hum of activity that brings the whole place to life. Inside the office, the fan is whirring gently, playlists are looping through our favourites (Beth swears nothing beats Daryl Hall & Oates’ You Make My Dreams Come True), and the soft clink of glass echoes as rows of bottles are filled, labelled, and stacked with care. Merlin, our beloved office dog, is curled up under a desk—well away from production, of course—occasionally surfacing for a fuss or a dog treat.

At the heart of it all? Blackberry Whisky. This batch has been quietly maturing for months, and now it’s finally ready. And we’re more excited than ever to share it with you.

Made with juicy, British-grown blackberries and absolutely no added flavours or colours, this is whisky at its most natural and characterful. The fruit gives it that rich, deep hue and beautifully rounded profile—warming, subtly sweet, and layered with just the right amount of berry brightness. It’s a batch we’re especially proud of. Each bottle is part of a small run, carefully curated and blended by hand—no mass production, no shortcuts, just honest craft and a real love for what we do.

Around here, we’re firm believers that drinks should feel like an experience, not just a pour. And in this heat, we’ve been reaching for something a little longer: Blackberry Whisky over ice, topped with soda and a dash of elderflower cordial. Add a few fresh blackberries and a sprig of mint if you’ve got them to hand, and you’ve got the kind of effortlessly elegant serve that turns an ordinary evening into something memorable. Whether you’re hosting friends, having a quiet moment in the garden, or just fancy something a little bit different mid-week, it’s an easy win.

We've also heard from some of our brilliant regulars who love using it in recipes. Drizzled over vanilla ice cream, shaken into summer puddings, or even stirred into BBQ marinades for pork or venison. It's versatile, unfussy, and just that little bit luxurious. However you enjoy it, it's a bottle that brings both flavour and a feeling—that something special that says, "go on, treat yourself.”

Behind the scenes, it’s been all systems go. Alongside the bottling and labelling, we’re still working away on something we know many of you have been asking about: our move toward being stocked by a major UK retailer. While we can’t reveal all just yet (we promise it’s not far off), the past few weeks have seen sample packs flying out, packaging tweaks, and many long—but genuinely exciting—conversations. It’s a slower process than we’d love, but these things take time, and we're determined to get it just right.

If you've been with us for a while, you’ll know how personal this journey is. We're a small, family-run business, and every product that leaves our hands reflects not just our standards, but our story. It matters to us that our spirits feel special—and that when someone picks up a bottle, it comes with a little something more: care, connection, and the kind of quality that speaks for itself.

And yes, things do get a little chaotic in the office during a big bottling run. But that's part of the charm. There’s something incredibly grounding about all of us being involved—be it wrapping bottles, quality checking labels, or popping out for a much-needed iced coffee run. It keeps us connected to the product, and to you.

We like to think each bottle carries not just flavour, but feeling—of slower moments, thoughtful making, and the kind of homegrown goodness that just feels right. Whether you're a seasoned whisky fan or just dipping your toe into something new, there's a place for you at our table.
